This year’s selection round took place at the University of the Free State from 10-15 July. This year saw 20 teams from 8 different institutions compete in-person for their place at the national round. This year was also the first time that students had the opportunity to participate virtually in this round of the competition, and saw online teams from across the country tuning in. Some of the highlights of the week included: the icy cold of the Free State in mid-winter, the festivities of the Free State Arts Festival (held on campus the week of the selection round), and the spirit and enthusiasm of participating teams towards gaining knowledge in the world of HPC.
